Neither Maria Kirilenko nor Laura Pous Tio is in good form lately but both have managed to get past first round this week. I was more impressed with the performance of Kirilenko. She get a very impressive win against last year's beaten finalist Kristina Barrois. Maria won against the German player in two sets 6-2, 6-3. The Russian girl was very dominant on serve and did not give her oponent a single break point opportunity and lost just 11 points on serve in total out of 48. That's mighty impressive in womens' tennis. Pous Tio also straight forward win against the German player, it was Angelique Kerber, but it was not without trouble. Kerber is in bad shape but made lots of problems for the Spanish player, breaking her two times but converting only two of nine chances. Kirilenko has won the only match they have played with Pous Tio. It was awhile back in US Open 2005, Kirilenko won easy 6-2, 6-3 and I think she'll do it again. Odds for a win not great but handicap should be working, too.
