The Angels rally against Oakland fell short on Thursday night, as they split the series with the Athletics and stayed a game behind the Rangers. They hope to take advantage of playing the worst team in the majors over the weekend as they begin a series in Minnesota. Tyler Chatwood rebounded from his worst start of the year with an excellent outing against Atlanta, picking up a victory as he went seven innings and allowed just one run. He hasn't faired well at all on the road this season, going 1-1 with a 7.43 ERA in three starts. A three run home run by Mark Trumbo in the ninth inning pulled the Angels within one run on Thursday, but the bottom of the lineup failed to come through as they were unable to pull off the comeback. Los Angeles suffered a huge blow on Thursday with Howie Kendrick being placed on the 15 day disabled list, and the second basemen was having a great month batting .348. Scott Baker has had the majority of his outings for Minnesota on the road this season, and that is probably for the best as he has an 0-1 record and 8.68 ERA in two home starts. He hasn't faired well against Los Angeles in his career either, going just 1-5 with a 5.01 ERA in nine career starts. Minnesota's struggled stem from their inability to win at home this season, having by far the league's worst home record at 5-13. Scoring has also been a key issue, with the club ranking dead last in the league at just 3.41 runs per game. I will place my money on an error in this game.
