FCSB and Astra Giurgiu will meet tonight in the first leg of the second semifinalist of League Cup. Although the team from Bucharest start with the first chance and we expect for the match to be a balanced one, just as the last four matches have been.
The hosts had a tough winter because the Steaua Sports Club decided to withdraw the right of management of Gigi Becali. If the situation won’t be solved soon, then the team from Ghencea will remain without many victories. When talking about their performance, they are doing pretty well, being given good odds for winning all the competition in which they had entered. The today’s hosts were pretty active when it comes to the transfers made, managing to bring back the players from Dinamo, Tamaș and Tucudean. Likewise, they also struck a bargain with Sitya and Enceanu, while on the list of departures we find Matei, Szukala, Sânmartean, Pârvulescu and Keșeru. Played well in the winter friendlies, being defeated only by Borussia Dortmund and Sturm Graz.
Bothered by the club’s situation, the fans said that they won’t be coming to see the match, so nobody will be cheering for them. Most probably, Țucudean will be playing since the beginning of the match and it is also possible to find Adi Popa among the starting 11.
Astra enters the year of 2015 with fresh strength and they hope to grab a trophy until the summer. The team from Giurgiu didn’t have a good performance in the Fall, but the managers manage to buy a few valuable players between the seasons. On the list of the newcomers we see Gorupec (Lokomotiva Zagreb), N’Doye (White Star Bruxelles), Wolakiewicz (Lech Poznan), Pinto and Celio (Tavriya Simferopol) or Cazalda (Montevideo). Likewise, Tembo returns from 17 months playing under the “white and black” jerseys, while Pliatsikas, Mățel, Toure, Cristescu and Bukari left the team. Astra played against a few powerful teams during the training period, but they didn’t win anything. We do have to mention the fact that they ended the matches against Dnipro and Dinamo Kiev at a tie.
Oleg Protasov declared at the press conference that his team is capable of defeating any team from Romania. The guests manager won’t be making any important changes to the starting 11, but most probably Celio will replace Ben Youssef on the pitch.
The last four matches ended at a tie and under 2.5 goals scored. Astra haven’t been able to defeat Steaua since 2000.

Our tip suggestions
Steaua are conscious that they will have a difficult second leg, so they will risk everything in order to gain the advantage of the first leg. They played pretty well in friendlies, despite the fact that they played against a few strong teams. Even if Keșeru, Szukala and Sânmărtean left the team, their place will be taken by Tamaș, Sitya or Țucudean. Astra didn’t have a good performance during the Fall and it is hard to believe that they can actually surprise us and finally defeat Steaua, a thing they haven’t done since 2000. We thus bet on the victory of Steaua, being highly possible for them to secure a comfortable advantage after the first leg.
