In the following three days will take place the matches from France Ligue 1, this before the teams take a break until the 9th of January 2015. Marseille can end the year on the first place if they succeed to obtain a good result against Lille, at least as good as the one obtained by PSG against Montpellier. In the following lines we present a short preview of the matches together with a tip for each one of them.
Our tip suggestions
Lens – Nice >>> Lens (0)
Both teams have only obtained five points in the last seven stages and they don’t seem to be in a good shape. The guests have many unavailable players for this articular match, most of the absences coming from the middle of the pitch. Four quarterbacks are missing, but the most important absentees being Carlos Eduardo (who scored six goals this season) and Nampalys Mendy. Lens can take advantage of this aspect and they might take all the points at stake. Just to be on the safe side, we bet on a refundable tip in case of a tie. You can also try the under 2.5 tip considering that the last eight direct matches have had no more than two goals scored and the last four have ended in a nil nil draw.

PSG – Montpellier >>> PSG lead to half time
PSG have suffered last stage their first defeat in this championship, losing against Guingamp (0:1). But now comes a home match against Montpellier and normally, the team coached by Laurent Blanc should win without a problem. They are unbeatable on their own pitch, few teams actually winning points on Parc des Princes. Few of them even make it to the half time, thus we bet on the victory of the hosts even since the 45th minute of the game. The last match between the two opponents had taken place in May 2014, when PSG won with the score of 4-0. The first goals was scored by Lavezzi in the second minute.

Caen – Bastia >>> Double chance: x2 0 0
This is a duel in the lower part of the ranking, between Caen and Bastia. The hosts are the weakest team in the championship with only 14 points won, but they can tie their opponent of they manage to win. This remains a hard thing to achieve, because Caen’s game has become quite weak. This team had started the championship in full force, obtaining two victories in the first three stages, but since then they haven’t won a single match. They come now from thee successive defeats, among which two were with the score of 1-5 against Guingamp and 0-3 against Lyon. On the other hand, Bastia obtained on Saturday a victory of 2-0 against Rennes (it is true that they played with an extra player since the 26th minute). Still, we believe the guests can leave with at least a point form this confrontation.

Lorient – Nantes >>> Egal
Nantes have lost the last two away matches and it is true that they had played on the pitches of the first two ranked teams. Before the two defeats they had impressed on away pitches, managing to obtain three successive victories. The away match at Lorient will be a pretty tough one, the hosts being in a pretty good shape. They have won ten points in the last five stages, just as many as they had won in the first 12 rounds. The match seems a pretty balanced one and it is hard to choose a favorite, but we wouldn’t be surprised for it to end at a tie.

Metz – Monaco >>> Victory Monaco
After a hesitant start to the season, Monaco have managed to become more constant in results and climb higher in the ranking. The French vice-champion now come from three victories in the championship and they hope obtain the fourth one on Metz’s pitch. The target is not at all impossible to obtain, considering that the hosts of this meeting have won a single point in the last six stages, heading towards the relegation places. Leonardo Jardim’s team can take advantage of the weak shape of the opponent, reason for which we bet on the victory of the guests. Just to be on the safe side, we bet on a refundable tip in case of a tie, at odds of 1.45.

Rennes – Reims >>> Victory Rennes
Rennes’ fans were disappointed from the humiliation suffered at home two weeks ago against Montpellier, with the score of 0-4. That result was surprising considering that it came after four successive victories obtained by Montanier’s team on their own pitch. On the other hand, Reims struggles pretty much in the away matches of this season, winning six points on away pitches (1-3-5). Normally, the three points at stake should be won by the hosts. In the previous edition of the championship, Rennes won both direct matches with 2-1 and 3-1.

Toulouse – Guingamp >>> Double chance: x2
These two teams are one point apart in the ranking, being satisfied for now with the 15th and 13th place. The hosts are considered by the bookmakers as favorite, with odds of 1.85 for the victory, but the guests are in a better shape, they come from three successive victories in the internal competition. Toulouse have lost four of the last five matches and the statistics show the same if we analyze the home results. Guingamp have won three away matches this season and we won’t be surprised for them to obtain the fourth one. In any case, this is a risky tip, a safer bet being x2.

Marseille – Lille >>> Victory Marseille
In order to end the year on the first place, Marcelo Bielsa’s team needs to win against Lille, this way they won’t depend anymore on the PSG’s result. The match mostly depends on the hosts, who have proven throughout the the season that they are pretty powerful when in comes to matches played on their own pitch. After the defeat suffered against Montpellier in August, Marseille have registered eight consecutive victories on Stade Vélodrome, matches in which they have scored 21 times and have received only four goals. On the other hand, Lille come from a surprising victory against Toulouse, but they no longer are at the level shown last season, currently being sat on the 12th place. Their main problems is the defense, René Girard’s team having the least goals scored in Ligue 1. The 3-0 victory of last stage is due to the fact that the opponents have played without one player since the beginning of the match.

Saint-Etienne – Evian >>> Victory Saint-Etienne
This is a tough match for Evian, who come from two lost matches with the same score of 2-3. Apart from the current shape, which now lies on the hosts’ side (undefeated for nine stages), Saint-Etienne also have the advantage of the home pitch. This aspect proved to be important when considering that Evian had lost six of the eight away matches of the championship and Saint-Etienne have had so far only good results on Stade Geoffroy-Guichard (5-3-1). Even the direct matches results are on the side of the hosts, three victories in the last three confrontations.

Bordeaux – Lyon >>> Over 2.5 goals
The bookmakers offer odds of 1.67 for the under 2.5 goals tip, but we believe there will be more goals scored in this particular match. In the first place, both teams score pretty much, having so for in the championship 11 and 12 matches of over 2.5. Lyon have the highest average of goals per match in the internal competition, 2.89 and Bordeaux are also having a good average of 2.67. The last direct match took place in March 2014, when Lyon won with the score of 2-1. Still, the over came quite hard. Bordeaux leaded with the score of 1-0 up to the 90th minute but the “Lions” managed to turn over the fate of the game, scoring twice in extra time and thus winning all the three points.
