This is one of the most interesting matches from the round of 16 in Champions League and it takes place today in the capital of France, where PSG will host Chelsea. The match is between the champions of Ligue 1 and the leaders of Premier League.

PSG

PSG have this season a difficult mission in Ligue 1, because they need to fight for the title against Lyon and Marseille. They missed on Saturday the chance of tying the leader, after leading with the score of 2-0 they lost two points in the duel against Caen. On Parc des Princes PSG they haven’t lost a match (in all the competitions) since May 2014, when they were defeated by Rennes. It is worrying for Blanc that his team received in 2015 five home goals in just as many matches, just as they had received in the last nine matches played in 2014.

Laurent Blanc declared that the circumstances in which the match will take place are not the best. He hopes that a good result today will have a positive impact and will strengthen then ties between the players, staff and fans. The hosts’ manager believes that the defense is the key for today’s match and as both teams have high quality players, the one who will make less mistakes on the defense line will have greater chances to qualify.

Blanc confirmed yesterday that Lucas Moura, Yohan Cabaye and Serge Aurier won’t be playing in this match. Despite all this, the Brazilian quarterback, Marquinho, injured for the Saturday match, was called in the lot. It remains to see who will play in the middle triangle, Motta or Pastore.

Chelsea

Chelsea have this season the chance to make a double, being in a pole position in the fight for the Premier League title. The team from London did not play in the weekend because FA Cup matches were played and Chelsea was eliminated by the modest Bradford. Chelsea remains was undefeated in the previous three official away matches. They won the last away match on Villa Park and they have six from the last eight official away matches with goals on both sides.

Jose Mourinho sees Campions League as a competition of surprises and for him there are at this point 16 candidates for winning the trophy. The Portuguese sees PSG as a similar team to the one from the previous edition, with the same coach and the same style. On the other hand, Chelsea are a different team, with some new players and new game styles.

Mourinho confirmed the return of Diego Costa after being suspended. The quarterback, John Obi Mikel is injured and won’t play tonight, but Oscar will return after missing out on the match against Everton. In the defense line, Kurt Zouma will continue to replace Gary Cahill.

We expect an interesting match in Paris. Both teams have quality players on the offense line and this thing can lead to goals scored on both sides. PSG have been undefeated at home for some time now and in Champions League they played well the last matches. Still, the team from Paris ended five of the six consecutive matches without receiving a goal, only APOEL not managing to score in this period. Chelsea scored in each one of the eight away matches throughout all the competitions since December, but in six of these matches they also received a goal. Both teams closed the last matches undecided, PSG at Lyon and Chelsea at home against Manchester City. The stake of the match are high and also the tension. Mourinho won’t be afraid of a tie at Paris if his team manages to score. On the other hand, PSG will surely be the team that struggles more, but under the conditions in which they face a stronger opponent, the tie is also an option for them.
