This week’s 6 of the Best subject is a “real history buff” and someone whose approach to sports betting is to combine his “raw excitement” with a sense of control.

Keep reading to find out more about 10Bet Chief Marketing Officer Oshri Kostiner, including his ‘working’ holiday to the Philippines and an unforgettable visit to the Eternal City.

Best Holiday

Back in 2012, I spent four months in the Philippines, which I guess you’d call a working holiday. I took my wife and kid out there with me and we stayed on a World War II US army base in a commander’s house. I’d work pretty much all night, sleep till noon and then the day was our own.

We had a great time. Lovely, friendly people, an on-site waterpark, and a local football league on pitches where the airstrips used to be. I even had the honour of playing alongside former internationals from Cameroon and Jamaica!

Best Album

I’ve been a huge fan of Queen from the age of 10 and my favourite album has got to be A Night at the Opera. I think the first Queen track I heard was We Will Rock You, and I was immediately hooked on Freddie’s voice.

I then spent hours rummaging through boxes of my parent’s old cassettes to dig out all their albums. I did get to see Queen perform with Adam Lambert on lead vocals – it was amazing, but it was one time I wished I was 20 years older.

Best Film

I think Fight Club is one of the best – and most underrated – films of all time. These days the ‘twist in the tail’ trope is a bit overused, but at the time, this movie felt totally fresh – even radical.

Other than that, I’m a big fan of stand-up comedy and think it’s safe to say I’ve watched over 200 hours of specials in the past couple of years. I can even deliver most of the lines from my favourite ones featuring Louis C.K., Chris Rock, Dave Chappelle, Jim Jefferies and Bo Burnham.

Best Sporting Experience

This was definitely the 2009 Champions League final in Rome. I’m a huge Man Utd fan; this was the first time I’d seen them on the biggest stage of all, and with Cristiano Ronaldo and Carlos Tevez lining up for the last time, this was all set up to for our most legendary triumph since ’99.

Of course, it wasn’t to be, but spending three days in the Eternal City with the hardcore Red Army was an unforgettable experience. As an overseas fan, it was brilliant to drink, shout, sing – and even commiserate – with the local fans, and I can’t wait to do it again when we finally get back to our best.

Best Book

I’m a real history buff, and loved The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown. I know he might have taken one or two liberties with the historical record, but you have to admire the way he weaves together fact and fiction.

It’s also a genuinely suspenseful book which keep you guessing throughout, which is how I approach sports betting. By applying knowledge and cold, hard stats to the action, I get to combine raw excitement with a sense of control, as well as the chance to be handsomely rewarded. That’s what it’s all about, as far as I’m concerned.

Best Bet

It wasn’t the biggest win I’ve ever had, but when an in-play punt on Marcus Rashford to score next came off for me in Man Utd’s match against Liverpool in March, it was very sweet indeed. He’d already scored one, and despite missing a couple of chances, I knew he had another goal in him, so I stuck £25 on the lad at something like 11/2, which worked out to a very nice payout.

I love in-play betting and that’s why heading up the 10Bet marketing operation is such a thrill for me. We’ve got the world’s leading range of in-play features, and as we expand the range of sports, events and markets we offer, I’m looking forward to seeing us become the first choice for players who want to live and breathe every moment of the top action.
