In 2017, I visited Phuket and Krabi in Thailand along with my family. We had a great time exploring different islands. For me, travelling to any place is about learning their culture and experiencing local cuisines. We took Thai cooking classes and cooked local food with fresh ingredients. We enjoyed some amazing home cooked seafood in Krabi.
We enjoyed spending time on the beach, enjoying a cold beer while getting a foot massage on the beach was good fun. Attending a Thai boxing match was also very interesting. Overall, we had a great vacation and are looking forward to going back and exploring more places.
Being born and brought up in India, I had the pleasure of experiencing western music along with different types of Indian music. I am big fan of jazz and country music. I love Bryan Adams, Pink Floyd, Beatles etc, but Simon & Garfunkel’s Mrs. Robinson is my all-time favourite.
I love to read. I personally like Spy thrillers and I like books from authors such as Ken Follet, Frederick Forsyth, Sidney Sheldon, Robert Ludlam, Jeffrey Archers etc. One of the books I finished reading last year, I think should be on everyone’s reading list – Sapiens by Yuval Noah Harari. It’s a history of mankind through centuries and a fascinating read. I also now have the next book from Yuval – Homo Deus and is looking forward to reading it.
I am going to mention two obvious choices here – Godfather and Stars War Series. For me Godfather is not just a gangster movie or a crime movie, it’s all about characters and Marlon Brando, Al Pacino are the legends of our time. I am also a huge fan of Stars Wars. I have named my son, Obi – named after Obi Wan Kenobi, the legendary Jedi Knight. I truly believe there is a force in all of us and our character is determined by how we use this force.
Best Sporting Experience
I am a big fan of cricket. The India–Pakistan cricket rivalry is one of the most thrilling for me. For me the best sporting experience was watching India win the First ICC T20 World Championship in South Africa. In one of the group matches, India was playing against Pakistan and had scored only 141 runs, which in T20 standards is not much. However, the India bowlers were able to restrict Pakistan score also to 141, resulting in a Tie. In a nail-biting finish, India won this match on a Bowl Out.
