Flutter entertainment US subdidiart FanDuel has become the official fantasy sports partner of  XFL American Football’s ‘reinvented league’.

The firm and bookmaker joins rivals DraftKings, which was announced as an authorised gaming partner on Wednesday, among a growing portfolio of sponsorships.

The XFL is owned by Vince McMahon’s Alpha Entertainment as a competitive rival to the National Football League (NFL). Initially the competition ran in 2001, and subserviently folded, however in its second stint, the firm is planning to provide an alternative American Football market.

Kip Levin, president of FanDuel Group, commented: “By teaming up directly with the XFL in the league’s inaugural season, we can work together to give our fantasy customers more ways to play, and XFL fans a new way to engage with the games.”

As part of the partnership, FanDuel will collaborate with the XFL on special promotions and custom content throughout all platforms. XFL will also provide the bookmaker with exclusive data along with league and team logos in order to create fantasy football offerings for the regular season.

Jeffrey Pollack, president and chief operating officer of the XFL stated: “Fantasy sports is an essential part of the football fan experience and we’re thrilled to be partnering with FanDuel, a leader in this space, to provide XFL fans additional ways to connect to our games.

“We’re looking forward to showcasing our new league and exciting brand of football to FanDuel’s customers.”

XFL’s promotional campaign to engage with betting communities in the U.S continues to be developed. The sports organisation has recently sealed a three-way partnership with the Vegas Stats & Information Network (VSiN) and iHeartRadio to produce sports betting audio content.

The agreement allows digital audio ‘BetCasts’ to be released for two games per week, offering live odds and sports betting specific commentary.

Moreover, the XFL will feature TV betting overlays on broadcasts ahead of Saturday’s season openers according to a report by Front Office Sports. The announcement confirmed that ABC, ESPN and FOX will show betting lines during XFL broadcasts.

FanDuel continues to expand its global reach providing punters with a wide selection of sports to bet or create fantasy teams on.
