Online betting exchange, Smarkets has this morning announced the official launch of its new sportsbook product ‘SBK’, seeking to disrupt all traditional wagering engagements.
A sportsbook mobile app SBK seeks to deliver punters the ‘fairest and funnest’ app for betting on sport and politics, fusing Smarkets exchange prices with a social-optimised interface.
Regarded as one of the UK’s fastest-growing tech enterprises, Smarkets has been testing its SBK product in beta mode since August of last year, with company founder Jason Trost underlining that Smarkets would deliver the industry’s first ‘True Price betting product’.
Launching SBK, Smarkets brings new customer engagement functions to market, with the betting app allowing players to directly benchmark SBK prices against competitor markets, showcased through an ‘industry-first SBK Price+ feature’.
Smarkets CEO and Founder Jason Trost said: “We are extremely excited to fully launch SBK having made substantial improvements since the beta introduction last year.
“By combining innovative technology with transparent and fair odds, I believe we are able to offer a product like no other in the market, which will help us continue to have an impact in an industry dominated by a few big players who don’t seek to give customers the best value.”
Delivering Smarkets most important launch to date, Trost reveals that SBK was built in-house, predominantly developed by the company’s engineering team in Los Angeles.
SBK will be initially launched for the UK market, with Smarkets expecting to introduce the product to the developing US betting marketplace in the near future.
The SBK product will be made available to the general public from tomorrow (Friday 9 August 2019); with Smarkets detailing that during beta testing, the app garnered a punter waiting list stretching 12-months.
Trost added: “While some bettors prefer the advanced features of Smarkets, we created SBK for those customers who want the better pricing of an exchange with the cleaner interface of a sportsbook.”
